Welcome to the Early Childhood Education Program!
I am so happy to welcome you to the Early Childhood Education program. My name is Dr. Mary Muhs and I am the Associate Dean for the School of Education. Across the country, there is a growing effort to show our professionalism through education and experience. If you are new to the field of ECE, you will be able to immediately take what you are learning back to your setting and apply it right away to your work with children. If you are a veteran in the field of ECE, you will validate previous experiences, challenge yourself with new research and practices and be able to take all your new learning back to your setting and apply it right away to your work with children. Your educational journey will be well worth your efforts and commitment!
My educational journey has been a long one so far! I have been in the early childhood education field for about 35 years and with Rasmussen 13 years. My educational journey started with a Bachelor degree in Speech Communication in 1991 and has ended (maybe) by finally completing a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) in August 2022. I have had experience with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and before/after school care both as an educator and in program leadership. Infants and toddlers are my love though! My family is a Disney family! I live in MN with my husband, Tom, my daughter, Naomi and her fiancé, Joe. I have two grand-cats, Coalie and Chaplin. My love to read and binge-watch streaming channels consumes my free time, 😊, but I also love to travel and study history! I look forward to getting to know you on your life journey as well!
