Certification Process

Confirm your schedule each quarter

Confirmed Schedules will be reported to the Department of Veterans Affairs prior to the beginning of the term unless enrollment is less than 1/2 time or the student is on Active Duty.  These students will have courses reported along with tuition and fees beginning week 3 of each quarter.

Due to reporting requirements, all mid-quarter courses will have tuition and fees reported after the drop-add period of the mid-quarter or approximately week 7 of the quarter.

Competency Based Education Courses

You may be enrolled in a competency-based education course(s).  We will certify your competency-based education course(s) with the term dates spanning the entire 11 weeks of the term. You have the option of completing these courses earlier than the scheduled end of term. However, if you choose to complete the competency-based education course(s) outside of our attendance policy, Rasmussen University must report the actual completion end date as your last date of attendance for that course to the Veteran's Affairs office. This may result in an overpayment by the VA or a reduction in the amount of Housing Allowance that is received.

Starting in the 2021-2022 school year, Post-9/11 GI Bill® students who receive Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) and/or kicker payments are required to verify their enrollment to continue receiving their payments.

Verify enrollment by opting into text messaging or call the Education Call Center (ECC) at 1-888-GIBILL-1 (1-888-442-4551) domestically or 001-918-781-5678 internationally to verify your enrollment.

Use of Federal Financial Aid

Many students who are using Military Education Benefits use Federal Financial Aid which includes both grants and loans.  Below is general information about utilizing Federal Financial Aid.

  • Apply for Federal Financial Aid at HERE
  • We encourage all students to complete the FAFSA each year in order for our office to determine grant and loan eligibility prior to starting school.
  • Rasmussen University does not recommend borrowing loans unless you need to do so to pay your tuition charges, and then to borrow only enough to cover the cost of tuition.

Please contact your Admissions or Academic Advisor for additional information.

All students utilizing Military Education Benefits are required by the VA to provide transcripts from all prior learning and training.  The purpose of this is to maximize your transfer of credit, get you to graduation faster, and extend the use of your benefits.

All students must:

  • Request transcripts from all prior colleges attended
  • Request Military Transcripts click HERE
  • List Rasmussen University as your current school so that all transcripts are sent directly to the University
  • A student cannot deny the transfer of a course, to be paid by the VA, if that course will progress them towards completing their program.

Students can order an official CCAF transcript by logging on to Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) from a . mil computer.
Under "Self Service", select "CCAF Student Services". Proceed to CCAF Online Student Services and select "Order a Transcript" from the Transcripts dropdown.

Withdrawing From or Failing a Course

Withdrawing from a course?

Let us help you avoid unnecessary debt.  Withdrawing from a course prior to the end of the quarter will result in a debt with the VA if tuition payments have been made to your account.  Please contact a Military Specialist today if you are considering withdrawing from a course and let us discuss how this will impact your VA Benefits and how it can be avoided.
