Your Military Specialists

Abbey Arredondo

Abbey started working in Federal Financial Aid with Rasmussen College in 2009 and transitioned to the School Certifying Official for the Eagan Campus. In 2013 Abbey moved into her current position as Sr Military Specialist with Central Processing.  Abbey feels this position fits her very well as it allows her to use her knowledge of Military Education Benefits to assist our service member students and their families in understanding their benefits.

Elizabeth Reimers

Elizabeth has been working in the Higher Education industry since 2000 where she has gained experience in both Federal Financial Aid and Military Education benefits.  She received her Bachelor's degree in English/Literary Analysis in 2009 and her Master's degree in Leadership Management in 2012. Elizabeth joined Rasmussen College in 2015 in her current role as Sr. Military Specialist.

Competency Based Education Courses
You may be enrolled in a competency-based education course(s).  We will certify your competency-based education course(s) with the term dates spanning the entire 11 weeks of the term (12 weeks for Accelerated Programs).
You have the ability to complete these courses earlier than the end of term. However, if you complete the competency-based education course(s) earlier than the last week of the term, Rasmussen College is required to report the actual completion date of the course to the Veteran's Affairs office by adjusting the length of the course.
This may result in an overpayment by the VA or a reduction in the amount of Housing Allowance that is received.

Use of Federal Financial Aid

Many students who are using Military Education Benefits want or need to use Federal Financial Aid as well.  Below is general information about utilizing Federal Financial Aid.

  • Apply for Federal Financial Aid at https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa
  • We encourage all students to complete the FAFSA in order for our office to determine grant and loan eligibility prior to starting school.
  • Rasmussen College does not recommend borrowing loans unless you need to do so to pay your tuition charges, and then to borrow only enough to cover the cost of tuition.

**Please note that each student's Financial Aid is different and you will work with your Military Specialist to create the package that suits your needs.

Verifying School Attendance

Many of the Military Education Assistance Programs require the student utilizing the benefit to verify their school attendance each month in the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) system.

PLEASE NOTE: This is the STUDENT'S responsibility and failure to verify your enrollment in a timely manner may result in delays with your Education Benefit payments.

Prior Training Transcripts

All students utilizing Military Education Benefits are required by the VA to provide transcripts from all prior learning and training.  The purpose of this is to maximize your transfer of credit, get you to graduation faster, and extend the use of your benefits.

All students must:

  • Request transcripts from all prior colleges attended
  • Request Military Transcripts
  • List Rasmussen College as your current school so that all transcripts are sent directly to the College

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are or were a servicemember in the Air Force you will need to use a different website.  Click here to access your Air Force Military Transcripts.

Withdrawing From or Failing a Course

If you are considering or planning to withdraw from a course:

CONTACT A MILITARY SPECIALIST IMMEDIATELY

Withdrawing from or failing a course may result in an overpayment between the student and the VA that you may be responsible to repay.  Please contact a Military Specialist immediately if you are potentially withdrawing from or failing a course to discuss how this will impact your VA Benefits.
