PTN1009 Foundations of Pharmacy Practice Course Project

The course project for PTN1009 Foundations of Pharmacy Practice will consist of writing a 2-3 page paper discussing the following topics: 

  • Differences between the various work environments
  • Roles and responsibilities of pharmacy technicians
  • Impact pharmacy technicians can have on patient experience and safety
  • Areas of the pharmacy technician profession that excite and interest you. 

This assignment also offers an optional opportunity to interview a pharmacy technician to assist answering and discussing these topics.

Your final project is due in Module 5, but there will be an assignment due in Module 02 associated with the course project.


Module 02 Course Project Assignment

You will submit a minimum of 4 references that will be utilized in your course project and provide a brief description for each reference (1-2 sentences) on why it is credible. 

Setting-up an interview with a pharmacy technician would count as 2 of your 4 required credible references.  If you are planning to conduct an interview with a pharmacy technician, you will need to submit a minimum of 10 questions that you will ask in the interview in place of the references.

Module 05 Course Project Assignment (Final Submission)

In Module 05, you will be required to submit your final course project paper that has the following requirements and content:

  • An APA formatted 2-3 page paper with a minimum of 4 credible references (2 credible references if you interview a pharmacy technician)
  • Compare and contrast the various work environments
  • Discuss the roles and responsibilities of pharmacy technicians
  • Discuss the impact pharmacy technicians can have on patient experience and safety
  • Discuss the areas, features, and characteristics of the pharmacy technician profession that excite and interest you

If you interview a pharmacy technician, you will need to summarize the interview and use the information gained from the interview and your other 2 credible references to cover the required topics.

Module 02 Course Project Assignment

You will submit a minimum of 4 references that will be utilized in your course project and provide a brief description for each reference (1-2 sentences) on why it is credible for this assignment.

Determining the credibility of a reference or resource is very important in any professional field, but especially in healthcare because having and using information that is not accurate or correct could have serious consequences for a patient.   

It is a good habit early on to start assessing the credibility of references or resources you are using.

The course project does offer the opportunity to interview a pharmacy technician which would count as 2 of your 4 required references. Below is a link to assist you with preparing interview questions and conducting your interview.  Remember, if you decide to interview a pharmacy technician, you will have to submit a minimum of 10 questions that you will ask in the interview and your additional 2 other references (and why they are credible) that will be utilized in your final submission. 

Module 05 Course Project Assignment

You will submit your final course project assignment in module 05.  Make sure your final course project submission contains the following requirements and content:
 

  • An APA formatted 2-3 page paper with a minimum of 4 credible references (2 credible references if you interview a pharmacy technician)

  • If you interview a pharmacy technician, you will need to summarize the interview and use the information gained from the interview and your other 2 credible references to cover the required topics

The College does offer research and writing resources to students, including tutor help and the ability to submit your paper for review.  Please utilize these resources: 

  • Live Help is staffed by professional tutors (they hold degrees in the subjects they tutor in, but are not familiar with specific Rasmussen courses and assignments) and they are available to help in a variety of topics. Some, like writing tutors, are available 24/7. Live Help does not require an appointment.
  • Tutor Match allows you to schedule tutoring appointments with Rasmussen College student tutors. You can request your appointment to be online or on campus (if available). 
  • The Writing Lab is available through your online courses.  You can submit papers to the writing for feedback from a professional tutor.  Feedback is provided within 24 hours of submission.
  • Research Appointment with Librarian – You can make a 20 minute online Research Appointment with a Rasmussen College Librarian when you need help with Research within a database.
