Elements of a basic sentence

A sentence is composed of a subject (a noun or noun phrase) and predicate (a verb or verb phrase) that expresses a complete thought.

  • Period - Ends most sentences
    • I took the exam yesterday.
  • Question mark - Ends direct questions
