Rasmussen Leadership Academy

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Rasmussen Leadership Academy?

The Rasmussen Leadership Academy (RLA) is an elective program for students who are interested in spending time outside of their course work to develop their leadership and interpersonal skills.
The program is free of charge and can help students identify and strengthen their unique leadership skills to use in school, in the workplace, and in the community.
Topics include:

  • Leadership qualities and styles
  • Personal strengths
  • Communication styles
  • Global community awareness

There will be a total of five online meetings with the first four meetings running approximately 90 – 120 minutes.  The final meeting runs between 120 minutes to 150 minutes.

Who qualifies for RLA?

Students must meet the following criteria to apply:

  • 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  • 3 or more quarters attended at Rasmussen University (you may be currently enrolled in your 3rd quarter)
  • Referral from a Rasmussen faculty member or staff member
  • Completion of the RLA application process
  • Must be an active student during the RLA Quarter for which you are applying

Why should I apply?

Due to the interactive nature of the program, RLA accepts only a small number of students each session, so participating in RLA is an accomplishment.

See what our previous RLA graduates have to say:
“The Rasmussen Leadership Academy taught me that there are different strengths in leaders, and that finding my own strengths brought out a better leader in myself.”
“We are all leaders; you just need to know to use your innate abilities and talents.”
“Knowing my strengths and how they relate to my every day is important and has already helped me in my current position.”
“I learned to be more confident in my leadership skills.”

How do I apply?

In order to apply for RLA, you will need to complete the application as well as obtain a recommendation from a Rasmussen faculty or staff member.  Both forms can be found to the right of this box.  Email this link to the faculty member/staff member:

https://guides.rasmussen.edu/RLA .  In your email, ask them to complete the online Faculty Referral form (listed below the student application).

When is RLA offered?

RLA is typically offered annually during the Spring Quarter, with applications accepted during Winter Quarter.
