Intersection of Wall Street and New StreetBegin by conducting background research on each of the six companies listed in deliverable 1. This is the company you will be working with throughout the course, so choose your company carefully, and make sure it is one that interests you. Company research can be conducted using the company's website and using databases recommended in the Company & Industry Information tab in the Business Management Research box below. After selecting a company, begin researching aspects of the company, such as their vision and objectives using the company's website, other credible websites, and library databases (see the box below).

Optional Library Readings:

Man looking at a graph on the wallDeliverable 2 asks you to write a paper discussing the purpose and importance of the management analysis process. In addition, the deliverable requires you to focus on potential areas for organizational performance improvement.

Pro tip: The assignment requires at least two sources other than your textbook. Use the article and eBook databases recommended in the Business Management Research box to search for resources. Please note, the optional library readings should not be used as your two outside sources; you should do your own research to find relevant resources.

Electricity supply chainDeliverable 3 asks you to write a paper appraising the external environment and related variables for your chosen company. 

Pro tip: The assignment requires at least two sources other than your textbook. Use the article and eBook databases recommended in the Business Management Research box to search for resources. Please note, the optional library readings should not be used as your two outside sources; you should do your own research to find relevant resources.

For module 4 you are expected to develop an original 10 question survey/questionnaire for assessing the abilities of company employees. In addition, you are required to submit a 1 page paper covering:

  • the purpose of internal assessments (go back to module 2 if needed!)
  • a comparison of your survey to other company's employee assessment surveys (search for these using your favorite search engine)
  • how your 10 question survey will help the company operate more successfully

Pro tip: Be sure to address the bullet-pointed requirements in the deliverable instructions! For example, one survey question must address technical competencies on ERP systems and another should address understanding of financial services, etc...

To find sources like articles and eBooks, utilize the databases recommended in the Business Management Research box below. This is an annotated bibliography, so remember to include a paragraph summarizing each source, as well as a paragraph that describes the process and criteria you used in locating and selecting your sources. See FAQs on Annotated Bibliographies at the bottom of the page for more information.

 

 

Pro tip: Review the Database Tutorials and Database Search Techniques tabs in the Business Management Research box below for help with constructing keyword searches and limiting results by date (hint: the rubric indicates sources should published in the last 3 years!)

The PowerPoint should include 6 slides, with 2 slides for each of the following focus areas:

  • how risk impacts operational decisions
  • the benefits and limitations of internal assessments
  • how risk can lead to opportunities

Pro tip: We recommend adding the required supportive notes and discussion points in the PowerPoint speaker notes area; view the FAQ in the MAN4720 FAQ box below for further instructions.

Optional Library Readings:

The PowerPoint should contain 6 slides with notes and discussion points; use the PowerPoint speaker notes area to input these items. For more information, review the speaker notes FAQ in the MAN4720 FAQ box below.

1. Determine keywords:

  • Research leadership strategies for managing organizational change.

2. Determine synonyms. Sample synonyms include:

manage institutional change

3. Develop a search string using AND to combine topics and OR to include synonyms.
